There was a CME forecasted to hit, so we drove up highway 79 north past Newell and pulled over about 10 minutes from Castle Rock. We waited for several hours on the side of the road hoping to see the Aurora Borealis. A bluish-white orb came over the horizon to the east. Initially we thought it was Venus rising, however, it started to go back down towards the horizon and then come back up again. It suddenly expanded significantly into what looked like gaseous material for close to a minute and then came back together.
