Witness Account

While stationed at Cannon AFB, New Mexico, about September 1980 I saw a black disk floating over the end of the runway. It was about 6am and still dark but I could see it very clear ascending to the sky very slow until it was very high in the sky and looked like a speck. As others were arriving to work I would ask them if they could see anything in the sky. They all laughed and asked, a flying saucer, I'd say no but I see something. I went inside my workplace and called base operations and asked if they had released a weather balloon and they said no, I also asked if they saw anything on radar by the end of the runway and they also answered no. I did not tell anyone about what I had witnessed which lasted about 1/2 hour because I was military and scared of the consequences of reporting seeing a flying saucer.
