IDAHO: Approximately 10pm. Camping near Tompson butte, close to north fork of the clearwater river. We were across from Suzy creek campground that is in a canyon. Witnessed from west to east an object that looked like a large, (compared to airliner aircraft.) light. It appeared to be Poroising up and down. The up and down motion was not much, if you think of the average airline, maybe the height of the tail of the aircraft. Speed was and height were hard to estimate. But would guess 5 to 7000 feet above us. and 3 to 400 knots. No sound at all. We watched for 4 to 5 mins. Last seen object dropped straight down maybe 2000 feet, the turned straight to the right and flew out of sight behind a mountain.

I am the author and am trying to update the report. First there is no Orogrande, IDAHO. Closest community would be Headquarters Idaho. Also, the only light near us was the campfire. And wanted to add. I am retired USAF. I worked on the B-52 bomber most of my 20 years. I have seen many large aircraft during the hours of darkness. State side and overseas. The light we saw was not aircraft terrain avoidants lights. I am able to identify most large airframe aircraft by the location of the terrain avoidants lights. And the object was well above the surrounding landscape so the lights would not have been used at any case. Also, the light from the object was the same as it came past us. (The same from the front as the back.) when the object dropped approximately 2000 feet. It was instant. not seconds. the total distance we observed the light was around 12 miles from our left to our right. Again, maybe 4 to 5 minutes. I have no idea what we (my wife and I) saw. But I do know what it was not. If anybody would like to ask questions my email is (DNR1911@hotmail.com)
Think this report may match another sighting — same object, same night, nearby location?
