UFO Report from Des Moines, Iowa

Report: 227

November 19, 2022

Was outside observing Saturn and Jupiter in southern sky. Finished about 9pm. As I was breaking down my telescope I was looking NW at a star I wanted to check out some other time. Two blueish white spheres or ovals surrounded in a hazy fog like glow of the same color entered my view from direct North in a straight southerly path. The hazy glow of the two overlapped to form one continuous field surrounding both objects, though each seemed to emit it's own fog/glow as it decreased in intensity as it extended outward from the spherical or oval phenomena. The ratio of size to distance definitely not consistent with aircraft lights and no navigational strobes were present. Seemed to be maybe 2,000-5,000 feet in altitude at most. Approximately like a hospital helicopter in flight. No sound as they passed overhead. We're within my line of sight roughly 5 seconds and seemed to grow dimmer right as they passed out of view behind the top of a building south of my position, but this could've just been from the light source going out of sight and only leaving the glow visible for a brief moment. I witnessed a commercial flight at presumably cruising altitude minutes after and strobes were easily visible and distance/size ratio was much different. (Light source of unknown aerial phenomena was much larger and closer together) No clouds. Viewing conditions for astronomy were excellent and pretty stable atmospheric condition. 27° F. Occurred between 9:00-9:05 PM. Near 35th & Ingersoll in Des Moines.
