Was standing in the yard waiting for our dog to complete her potty routine and filling my time by scanning the sky looking for satellites. A small distant flash caught my eye…waited, scanning the area of the flash. Approx 2 seconds pass…another flash. Now I had a fixed position in the sky and waited. Just after the second flash, a small orange/redish spec could be seen moving in a straight line moving easterly at about the speed of a satellite. Nothing odd occurred to me until the spec suddenly accelerated instantly at roughly 8 times the speed all while turning about 160 degrees to the NW in a very tight angle.
The moment it accelerated into that turn and shot off from view at that speed, I felt like the universe had just turned upside down for me. The whole incident only lasted 7-8 seconds including the 2 flashes that preceded the orangish object sighting.
Since that night I have witnessed 3 additional similar events. All of them occurring in between 9:45 and 10:00 pm. Always an orange/reddish spec, very dim and displaying unbelievable flight characteristics, the most alarming being the seemingly impossible acceleration from its previous casual speeds. As a reference I would say the speed change is from normal satellite tracking speed to the speed of a meteorite entering the atmosphere. Sudden and violent acceleration.
The second sighting exhibited the same routine, but completed a complete 360 small but distinct circle in under 1 second before disappearing towards the west towards the coast at incredible speeds, which is only about 75 miles away.
The 3rd sighting alarmed me because it moved its course direction directly towards a commercial jet traveling south presumably from SeaTac. It just accelerated towards the jet but left a small gap as a safety buffer as it passed by. I wondered if the pilots saw it or reported it, or was the object at a higher elevation and unseen by them?
Last thoughts….I am a normal and rational thinker. I have eliminated the possibility that these are satellites, or even advanced military jets, as the instant acceleration and or the speeds the turns or circling maneuvers are completed in seem impossible by our known standards….yet they happened. I don’t know what these are, but I do know they are up there and probably more frequent than we know.
